Ringing in the band’s 20th anniversary, D releases its long-awaited single REVENANT on April 18. Fans will be thrilled by the grandeur, vampiric storyline, and dramatic song development unique to D, which they have come to know and love over the past two decades. This time, the band combines their signature style and storytelling with digital elements, bringing them into the future.
The band released a music video preview on their official YouTube channel. Check it out below!
REVENANT comes in two editions—a regular edition, and a limited deluxe edition. The regular edition includes the double A-side single REVENANT, told in two chapters: REVENANT Kuyautsutsu no shou (黒夜現の章) and REVENANT Hakuchuumu no shou (白昼夢の章). It also includes the coupling track AINS no Kijitsu (アインスの記述), and an instrumental track titled Silent cry. As a bonus, the first pressing of the regular edition comes with a random postcard (1 of 8 designs).
The limited deluxe edition will be sold only at live venues and by official mail order. The jacket sleeve was inspired by REVENANT‘s coupling track, AINS no Kijitsu. The CD includes three tracks—both versions of REVENANT as well as AINS no Kijitsu. This version goes a step beyond the regular edition by adding a DVD, including two music videos and behind-the-scenes footage. Like the regular edition, this first press also includes a random postcard (1 of 8 designs).
D also has a busy live schedule this year with appearances around Japan! Beginning April 22 the band embarks on a 20th-anniversary one-man tour, making stops in Nagoya, Osaka, and Tokyo. On May 8, they play alongside the metal band Versailles at Club Citta in Kawasaki. Then on July 4, D returns to Club Citta along with bands GOTCHAROCKA, Versailles, and D=OUT for the event “Mad Tea Party vol. 36”.
Last but not least, in September D joins four fellow visual kei monoliths for the Japanese Visual Metal tour. The Japanese Visual Metal tour joins bands D, Moi dix Mois, Versailles, and Matenrou Opera for a four-show circuit at Zepp concert halls across Japan. The event aims to reignite live music in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
