YOASOBI’s upcoming EP Hajimete no releases on May 10 and will feature four songs based on novels by four award-winning authors. Out of these songs, you will find the pre-released track SEVENTEEN which also is joined by a music video.

The visual production quality for SEVENTEEN is incredibly stunning, elaborate, and vibrant. The fantastic result is thanks to the anime studio MAPPA who was able to capture the hastiness of the song. You might have seen their expertise presented in popular shows such as Chainsaw Man, Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, and more.

Elaborating on the EP Hajimete no, as the name implies, it captures the theme of “the story you read when you do something for the first time“. Specifically in this context, the first time when “loving”, “escaping home”, “confessing”, and “becoming a suspect”—the last mentioned one being the theme of SEVENTEEN.

The project features the works of four Naoki Prize-winning authors (a bi-annual Japanese literary award), namely, Rio Shimamoto, Mizuki Tsujimura, Miyuki Miyabe, and Eto Mori, who each have written novels based on the theme. YOASBI has then molded their music around these stories.

Interestingly, when buying the physical release of the EP, the novels will be included too. You can choose to get either the complete edition which includes all four novels, or any of the other four editions which only comes with your preferred novel.
