Viewers of Bridgerton Season 3 who haven’t heard about the changes in the cast may be surprised to find that British actress Phoebe Dynevor, who plays the eldest sister Daphne Bridgerton (or Daphne Basset), doesn’t appear. Daphne was the main protagonist in the first season and played a secondary role in the second season, but this time around, she is effectively absent. Fans of this Netflix romance series, however, likely won’t be shocked by this, since Phoebe Dynevor didn’t appear alongside her other castmates in the promotion of the third season. That said, it’s always possible for characters to return in later seasons for one reason or another. Here’s whether Daphne might come back to Bridgerton some time down the line.
Will Daphne Be in Bridgerton Season 4?
There is a small chance that Daphne Bridgerton will appear later seasons of the show, which includes Season 4 and beyond.
In an interview with ScreenRant, Phoebe responded to a questions about her possible appearance in Bridgerton Season 3 and beyond: “Sadly not in season 3. Potentially in the future. But season 3, I’m just excited to watch as a viewer.”
In the show’s first episode of the third season, Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) explains that she spent time away in the countryside at Daphne’s estate, which we saw in the first season. Considering that Daphne is the Duchess of Hastings and has children of her own with Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page), the Duke of Hastings, she has many responsibilities at home and in the nearby village. So it only makes sense that she wouldn’t make an appearance in season three. Besides, this would allow for the relationship between Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington to take center stage.
It’s a bit unclear how Daphne would be woven back into the storyline of later seasons. It could be done through a family reunion or a situation that might require her social standing as a solution. In season two, she returned as a minor character who pulled her eldest brother toward his love match. But at the moment, her life is more or less a fairy-tale ending. Unless something dramatic happens, like the Duke of Hastings suddenly passing away, her storyline is essentially complete.
