XaaXaa plays Russian Roulette in music video “Draw”, for TV anime “Duel Masters”

On October 8, the visual kei quartet XaaXaa released the music video for their single Draw (ドロー). Draw serves as the outro track for the TV anime series Duel Masters WIN Duel Wars, now airing on TV Tokyo.

This track creates electrifying synergy, where XaaXaa’s melancholic undertones collide with an upbeat rock atmosphere. The cinematic videography immerses you in a tense game of Russian Roulette, revealing each member’s unique personality as they pull the trigger. Check out the music video below!

The single Draw was released on October 11 in seven versions: types A, B, and C, along with four member-specific versions, each representing one of XaaXaa’s four members.

Type A includes the title track Draw, the coupling track Bad (バッド), and a DVD with the music video for Draw. Type B includes the title track Draw, and the coupling track Bad, then adds a third track, Sleeper (スリーパー). Rounding out the regular releases, Type C features jacket art of the band drawn in anime style, and only contains the track Draw.

On top of the three standard releases, XaaXaa adds four “member” versions. Each is named after one of the band’s members—vocalist Kazuki, guitarist Haruga, bassist Reiya, and drummer An. These versions all contain the track Draw and come with a randomly selected trading card.

The band makes their first US appearance at Katsucon in February 2024. Registration for the convention is open now, so check out the details below!

Hailing from the vibrant city of Osaka, XaaXaa crafts their music around the gritty narratives of urban life, the isolation of existence, and the complexities of the human condition. In terms of composition, the band’s unique worldview weaves bleak lyrics with catchy melodies.

In terms of the members’ personal backgrounds, the vocalist and bassist are actually siblings. It all started when the elder brother, bassist Reiya, invited his younger brother, Kazuki, to join as a vocalist when he couldn’t find enough band members. Adding to their intriguing backstory, guitarist Haruga used to manage an udon restaurant but resigned to form XaaXaa. Drummer An is also active on YouTube as a binge eater.

XaaXaa, born in 2014, has made a remarkable ascent to fame evidenced by several popular media collaborations. The single Draw for the TV anime Duel Masters WIN Duel Wars is but the latest jewel in their crown. We can’t wait to see how they take off following their US debut at Katsucon 2024!
