Wes Craven’s 2006 horror film The Breed is getting the remake treatment from directors Sean and Bryan Furst. It’s explained that the movie is going to be an “unconventional reimagining of the Wes Craven cult classic.”

Grace Caroline Currey (Fall, Shazam: Fury of the Gods, Annabelle: Creation) is set to star in the film and will take on the role of Violet, “a rebel icon and badass on a mission to search for abandoned dogs on a remote island which leads to complete adrenaline-fueled terror.”

Craven produced The Breed and it was directed by Nicholas Mastandrea. The story unfolds on a secluded island where a group of five college friends decide to spend their vacation.

Their getaway takes a terrifying turn when they discover they are not alone on the island. The group encounters a pack of genetically altered, highly intelligent and aggressive dogs that begin to hunt them down.

As the friends struggle for survival, they must unravel the mystery of the dogs’ origins and find a way to escape the island’s deadly new inhabitants.
