Warner Bros. CEOs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy are hoping for another Lord of the Rings movie from Peter Jackson.

Jackson directed six Lord of the Rings movies. He helmed the original trilogy, which premiered from 2001 to 2003, and he helmed The Hobbit prequel trilogy, which came out from 2012 to 2014. Since then, the franchise has seen The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, a Prime Video TV series, but there have not been any new movies.

De Luca and Abdy visited Jackson in New Zealand to re-establish the studio’s connection to the director. Since Jackson finished his work on the Hobbit trilogy, he has co-written Mortal Engines and directed the documentaries They Shall Not Grow Old and The Beatles: Get Back.

Is there a new Lord of the Rings movie?

The next film will be The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim. It is an animated film that is set 183 years before the events of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, telling the story of Helm Hammerhand (Brian Cox), a legendary King of Rohan who must defend against an army of Dunlendings. He becomes the namesake for the stronghold of Helm’s Deep.

There are more new Lord of the Rings movies coming soon.
