A production window has been set for a fourth Riddick movie with Vin Diesel, Riddick: Furya.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Diesel is officially returning to the world of Pitch Black with another Riddick movie, Riddick: Furya.

While Riddick: Furya was announced back in February 2023, it has now been announced that the movie will officially begin filming on August 26, 2024.

“Riddick finally returns to his homeworld, a place he barely remembers and one he fears might be left in ruins,” The Hollywood Reporter’s article reads. “But there he finds other Furyans fighting for their existence against a new monster. And some of these Furyans are more like Riddick than he could have ever imagined.”

Diesel will produce the film, while David Twohy is directing Riddick: Furya. Samantha Vincent, Thorsten Schumacher, Lars Sylvest, and Joe Neurauter also serve as producers.

What other Riddick movies have there been?

The Riddick franchise began in 2000 with Pitch Black, which was one of Dieself’s first leading roles following 1997’s Strays and 1999’s The Iron Giant. Directed by Twohy, Pitch Black was made for only around $23 million and brought in approximately $53.2 million at the global box office.

The first sequel, The Chronicles of Riddick, came in 2004. With Twohy once again directing the film, The Chronicles of Riddick proved to be less successful as the movie only made $115.8 million at the global box office off an estimated $105-$120 million budget.

Diesel and Twohy reunited for a third film in the franchise, Riddick, in 2013. Riddick did far better than The Chronicles of Riddick, as the movie only had a $38 million budget and made $98.3 million at the global box office.

A release date for Riddick: Furya has not yet been announced. All three Riddick movies, meanwhile, are currently streaming on Peacock, while The Chronicles of Riddick is also available to watch on Hulu.
