It was confirmed a few months ago that Lewis Pullman had joined Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts* film and that he would be taking on the role of The Sentry.
Until now, he hasn’t commented on the casting, but he was asked about it recently during an interview with The Happy Sad Confused podcast, and while he shared his thoughts on Marvel, Pullman refused to confirm he’s playing The Sentry.
Pullman said: “You know, I think the MCU is always something that I’ve watched and felt like is a beautiful world that is kind of untouchable.”
“I think there is something about joining that world”, he added, “which is similar to joining television in that whenever somebody joins in, you want it to be as a character you can live in for a long time and an aspect of the world you want to be in.”
Pullman was pushed for details and was even shown an image of the comic book Sentry. All he said about that was, “What a beautiful costume. Look at those locks, my God.”
The actor then started talking about what superpower he’d want, suggesting being a shapeshifter would be cool. The interviewer jokingly took that as “confirmation” The Sentry will have that power.
The prompted Pullman to respond, “I haven’t looked into Sentry. First time I’ve heard this name. The Sentry sounds like a snaky, shapeshifter kind of vibe, if you read the comics.”
Pullman obviously is being extremely careful about what he says when it comes to his role in Thunderbolts*. He obviously doesn’t want to get in trouble with Marvel, not that a lot of people even really care anymore.
The movie is currently shooting in Atlanta, and Florence Pugh previously shared a video from the set of the movie offering a little sneak peek tease.
The cast of Thunderbolts* includes Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Julie Louis-Dreyfus as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Wyatt Russell as US Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Lewis Pullman as The Sentry, and Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster.
