Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for the highly-anticipated horror movie Insidious: The Red Door, which is going to take us back deep into The Further. The movie looks like it’s going to take fans of the franchise on a nightmarish ride as the secrets of the Lamber family are unlocked.

Insidious: The Red Door is set ten years after the last movie. In the story, “Josh Lambert (Wilson) heads east to drop his son Dalton (Simpkins) off at an idyllic, ivy-covered university. However, Dalton’s college dream becomes a nightmare when the repressed demons of his past suddenly return to haunt them both.”

It’s explained, “To put their demons to rest once and for all, Josh (Patrick Willson) and a college-aged Dalton (Ty Simpkins) must go deeper into The Further than ever before.”

Wilson also directed the film from a script written by Scott Teems (Halloween Kills), and it’s based on a story by franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell (The Invisible Man). The movie also stars Ty Simpkins returning as Dalton Lambert, with Rose Byrne also reprising her role as Renai Lambert.

Wilson previously talked about the film, saying: “I’m honored and thrilled to be at the helm of the next Insidious installment, which will provide an amazing chance to unpack everything the Lamberts went through a decade ago, as well as deal with the consequences of their choices. Directing the movie is both professionally and personally a full circle moment for me, and I am extremely grateful to be entrusted in continuing to tell this frightening and haunting story. Into the further we go…”

Insidious: The Red Door will release in theaters everywhere on July 7, 2023. I’m a fan of the films that make up this horror franchise and this next one looks like it’s gonna be good! Watch the trailer and tell us what you think!
