sukekiyo’s “DOMINUS” compilation features AI-generated model

Fresh off a live performance celebrating vocalist Kyo’s birthday, sukekiyo announced on February 16 the upcoming release of an audio-visual compilation titled DOMINUS, set for mid-April 2025. However, what caught fans by surprise was an unexpected artistic choice in the new promotional photo—rather than featuring the band’s well-known frontman Kyo, an AI-generated model takes his place.

According to the official announcement, the decision to use an AI-generated model was made at Kyo’s strong request, though no further explanation was provided. The rest of the band—guitarist “utA”, drummer MIKA, guitarist and pianist TAKUMI, and bassist YUCHI—appear as usual.

The statement also highlights that the artwork was created by “unravel.”, the production team responsible for sukekiyo’s video work since the band’s inception. The AI-generated photo, described as having an “otherworldly atmosphere”, aims to blend sukekiyo’s enigmatic aesthetic with cutting-edge technology.

DOMINUS will feature a new track, Breeder, as well as -mystery na- (mysteryな), a song previously released only as a demo in 2024. The Blu-ray included in the package will contain the official Breeder music video and live footage from sukekiyo’s 2024 tour, Unaji ni Ase. Specifically, it will include the band’s August 20 performance at Ebisu LIQUIDROOM, along with digest footage from their theatrical concert series Yappari isu ga ii desu yo ne, isu ga. THE isu onna., held at Shibuya Cultural Center Owada’s Sakura Hall.

DOMINUS will be available in two editions. The regular edition includes a CD and Blu-ray, while the limited edition adds an exclusive velvet bag adorned with the album’s cover art. Additionally, the limited edition comes with a third bonus disc, an “Unofficial DVD”, available only through the band’s online shop.

In anticipation of the upcoming release of DOMINUS, sukekiyo has announced two back-to-back live events at Club Citta in Kanagawa.

The first event, titled Makoto, Ryougan Chishibaru will be held on April 21, featuring an exclusive two-band performance with solo artist KIRITO (ex-PIERROT). For more details and ticketing information, visit sukekiyo’s official website.

The following day, April 22, sukekiyo will perform a one-man live concert titled Oneman Title Shimekiri Itsumade?. Hilariously, the tour name translates to, “When is the deadline for the one-man tour title?”.
