The hit HBO series Succession is set to end this weekend. Despite the show’s massive success popular, however, there are no plans for a new season or spin-off of any kind.

HBO’s head of drama Francesca Orsi told Deadline there are no plans for a Season 5 following Sunday’s series finale. She mentioned “some talk” about a spin-off series, but there as of now, there’s no real movement.

“No, not at this point now,” Orsi said. “I know there was some talk about spin-offs, but no, not at all.”

When asked further about the possibility of spin-offs, Orsi said that for now, she would never say never. Based on what she’s heard, however, there’s no intention of future series based on the TV series.

“I’ll never say never but my instinct and based on a number of conversations about the evolution of Succession and these characters, at this stage, there is no intention of spinning any one character off,” Orsi said. “Jesse, should he do a series again, I think it will be entirely original. Whether it’s based on IP or not, I’m not sure, but it will be a new show, a new idea entirely.”

What is Succession about?

Succession follows the story of the Roy family — Logan Roy and his four children — who control one of the biggest media and entertainment conglomerates in the world. The series tracks their lives as they plan a future without their father.

“In season four, the sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson moves ever closer,” reads the season’s synopsis. “The prospect of this seismic sale provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is completed. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed.”

The series stars Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Alan Ruck, Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook, Nicholas Braun, Matthew Macfadyen, J. Smith-Cameron, Peter Friedman, David Rasche, Fisher Stevens, Hiam Abbass, Cherry Jones, Alexander Skarsgård, Stephen Root and more.

The Emmy-winning series is created and executive produced by showrunner Jesse Armstrong. Other executive producers include Adam McKay, Frank Rich, Kevin Messick, Jane Tranter, Mark Mylod, Tony Roche, Scott Ferguson, Jon Brown, Lucy Prebble, Will Tracy, and Will Ferrell.
