In response to the ongoing WGA strike, Stranger Things creators/showrunners Matt and Ross Duffer took to Twitter to confirm that production on the highly-anticipated fifth and final season of Netflix‘s hit sci-fi horror series will not begin until the writers secure a fair deal. Before WGA issued its first strike in fifteen years, Stranger Things Season 5 was originally scheduled to start filming this coming June.

“Writing does not stop when filming begins,” the Duffers stated. “While we’re excited to start production with our amazing cast and crew, it is not possible during this strike. We hope a fair deal is reached soon so we can all get back to work. Until then — over and out.”
