Seinfeld was a series that always liked to push the boundaries. The sitcom openly talked about sex, contraception, masturbation, and they brazenly killed off George’s fiancé, by having her lick poisoned envelopes in the episode “The Invitations.”

It was a show about nothing that treated every taboo like an everyday occurrence, and while one might think there was no subject too dark, there was one yeeted plotline that never saw the light of day.

Back in 2022, George actor Jason Alexander auctioned off his copy of the script for an undisclosed sum, which led to photocopies turning up on eBay for several thousand dollars.

Finally, someone snagged a copy for $800, and, generously threw the script online for all fans to check out.

The script for the unmade Season 2 episode, titled “The Bet,” featured a subplot which followed Elaine wanting to get a gun to protect herself around New York City. Jerry was adamantly against it, and it led to a discussion in a car that would have gone like this:

Jerry: George … Annie Oakley … is it warm in here or are you just packing heat?

Elaine: One bullet in the brainpan oughta drop your body temperature considerably.

Jerry: I guess that would provide some cross-ventiliation. Can you give me the Kennedy? In here (MOTIONING TO THE BACK OF THE HEAD) and out here (MOTIONING TO HIS ADAM’S APPLE)?

Elaine: Maybe I’ll just take a little off the top.

Jerry: Aah, the Lincoln.

This really would have been in poor taste. But Seinfeld creator Larry David is known for making the most awkward and dark story lines comedic.

It turned out that Elaine actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus immediately objected to this script, and the episode got canned. But it was probably better for the show in its second season to err on the side of caution, as it went on to become a classic fan-favorite.
