In the comics, Deadpool is portrayed as pansexual, which means that he makes no distinction between genders or gender identity while choosing romantic partners.
This is something that some fans have been interested in seeing represented on the big screen. The first two movies haven’t really played with that as Wade Wilson’s primary relationship has been with Vanessa.
Well, in a recent interview with Variety, Ryan Reynolds is asked if there’s any “sexual chemistry or tension” between Deadpool and Wolverine in the upcoming Marvel movie.
Reynolds responded, saying: “I can’t speak for Wolverine, but I feel like Deadpool has sexual tension with everything and everyone.” Hugh Jackman then chimed in to say: “Don’t deny this is special.”
To that, Reynolds said: “There is a…you’re right. I feel it right now. My God, like two magnets facing the wrong direction.”
Director Shawn Levy then jumped in to quickly clarify: “Wade is a fan of the Wolverine. He drives [Wolverine] crazy off-screen and on. But there’s a reverence. There’s a fanboy love.”
So, that’s as good of an answer as you’re going to get. I’m just excited to see the story unfolds for these two characters in Deadpool & Wolverine! It looks like the creative team behind it managed to pull something off special, and I’m ready for the ride!
We’ve been told that fans are going to “lose their damn minds… ten billion times” while watching this movie, and I don’t know about you, but losing my damn mind is exactly what I need right now to feel a little sane.
