A new report has surfaced that claims Black Panther director Ryan Coogler has signed on to helm a third Black Panther movie. But, the rumors don’t end there, as it’s also said that Marvel Studios wants him to direct the X-Men reboot.
This information comes from inside scooper MyTimeToShineHello, and it’s also being reported that Mufasa: The Lion King director Barry Jenkins might also be on Marvel’s for the X-Men movie.
Ryan Coogler has made some great films in his career, but the Black Panther movies aren’t his best work. Regardless, he has fun making these films, and he’s said he would return “as long as folks will have me.”
During a previous interview, Coogler talked about the possibility of returning to the franchise saying: “I feel blessed that I have the opportunity to work on these movies, bro.
“When I got asked to do the first one, it was like a moving train. I thank God every day that I was able to jump on it and meet these people, these actors, and to meet Chadwick during some of the last years of his life.
“I’ll do it as long as folks will have me. But I think it’s bigger than just me or Joe. Between the first and second movie, we made $2 billion at the box office, which is what matters the most to corporations.
“So I hope that it continues, man. I hope people are still making movies about Wakanda long after we’re gone.”
This latest report is just a rumor, but it comes from a reputable source, so we’ll have to wait and see how this all shakes out.
What do you think about Coogler possibly returning for Black Panther 3 and would you like to see him take in X-Men?
