Reginald the Vampire has been canceled by Syfy.
Based on the Fat Vampire book series by Johnny B. Truant, Reginald the Vampire premiered on Syfy in 2022. The series was renewed for a second season in January 2023, which then premiered on May 8, 2024. The final episode of Season 2 (and, now, the series) aired on July 10, 2024.
According to Deadline, Syfy has now decided not to move forward with the series past Reginald the Vampire Season 2.
The news comes shortly after Syfy’s Resident Alien moved to the USA Network for its fourth season. Deadline also reports that the fate of Syfy’s Chucky series remains unclear, as it has not yet been officially renewed for a fourth season at this time.
What was Syfy’s Reginald the Vampire about?
Reginald the Vampire primarily starred Spider-Man: Homecoming’s Jacob Batalon as Reginald Andres. The cast of the series also included Mandela Van Peebles as Maurice Miller, Em Haine as Sarah Kinney, Christin Park as Nikki, Aren Buchholz as Todd, Savannah Basley as Angela, Thailey Roberge as Claire, and Marguerite Hanna as Ashley.
“Imagine a world populated by beautiful, fit, and vain vampires. Reginald Andres tumbles headlong into it as an unlikely hero who will have to navigate every kind of obstacle – the girl he loves but can’t be with, a bully manager at work, and the vampire chieftain who wants him dead,” the synopsis for the series’ first season reads. “Fortunately, Reginald discovers he has a few unrecognized powers of his own.”
The show was executive-produced by showrunner Harley Peyton, Jeremiah Chechik, Todd Berger, Lindsay Macadam, Brett Burlock, and Peter Emerson. Batalon served as co-executive producer, while Great Pacific Media, Modern Story Company, December Films, and Cineflix Studios produced the series.
The first season of Reginald the Vampire is currently streaming on Hulu.
