A post header image, featuring the interface of audio editing software, and an image of the cover artwork for my non-stop mix of Kylie Minogue’s Tension.
A year ago I started working a non-stop mix of Kylie’s Tension. I’m not entirely sure what compelled me to do it. But as soon as I started, I wondered what I had gotten myself into. Because not only did I find myself working on transitions between the songs, but I wound up changing some of the mixes too. I’m a fussy bitch. And I found some of the Tension songs way too short and some of the Extension Mixes too slapdash. Then I thought ‘Wouldn’t it be cool to put a couple of Disco songs in there too!?’.

[Shakes head]

When I was finally done giving myself hard, unpaid work, I found myself listening to my Tension mix quite a bit and…it actually made me like Tension a whole lot more. This is why I always stress the importance of how you structure songs and sequence an album, because they can make a world of difference. Then again, when it comes to this mix, I’m gonna be biased, because I made it. But I truly did 180s on songs I wasn’t too keen on prior. And instead of just cherry picking the couple of songs on Tension that I liked, I found myself listening to the entire thing from top to bottom. I figured that maybe it was just the initial feeling of relief and accomplishment that the damn thing was finally done. But, nope. One year on, I’m still listening to it and I still like the bitch.

So after sitting with this for a year and Kylie about to embark on her Tension tour as I post this, I’m now sharing it with you.

Happy Valentine’s Day Lovers

ℹ️ Side note. I will start to post my mixes and mashups solely on Random J Mixes and Mashups. So for all two of you who do listen to / like my mashups, they’ll be posted over at www.randomjmixes.blogspot.com instead of here.
