The creators of the Poohniverse horror movie Pinocchio Unstrung have detailed a gory, gruesome scene where Pinocchio tries to become a ”real boy”.
The latest in a series of horror-themed takes on children’s tales sees Winnie the Pooh Blood & Honey creator Rhys Frake-Waterfield put a subversive and sinister spin on the classic tale of a wooden boy come to life. While there’s darkness in previous adaptations, this one will go the extra mile into Unpleasantville.
Pinocchio Unstrung Gory Scene Detailed
Variety was told of a scene that will play on Pinocchio’s desire to be a real boy. In that scene, the wooden menace will take the skin of a victim and wear it to feel like he’s human.
Given the promise of Pinocchio Unstrung embracing a practical, gory side, such a scene could be particularly disgusting if done right.
Pinocchio Unstrung is currently selling in Cannes via Premiere Entertainment. Filming on the movie is due to begin this September, with an eye toward a January 2025 release.
Pinnochio Unstrung is part of the Twisted Childhood Universe. It sees children’s staples such as Winnie the Pooh, Bambi, and Peter Pan alongside Pinocchio in standalone horror movies spins on the characters and stories. They will then unite in a 2025 film titled Poohniverse: Monsters Assembled.
