Sony has given the next I Know What You Did Last Summer movie an official release date.
Per Deadline, Sony has announced that Columbia Pictures’ next film in the I Know What You Did Last Summer horror film franchise will hit United States theaters on July 18, 2025.
The film has been given the same release date as the upcoming Naked Gun reboot, which stars Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson. James Gunn’s Superman movie, meanwhile, opens in United States theaters the week before (July 11, 2025), while Matt Shakman’s The Fantastic Four will arrive the week after (July 25, 2025) the new I Know What You Did Last Summer movie.
What do we know about the new I Know What You Did Last Summer movie?
The new I Know What You Did Last Summer movie is directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who previously made 2019’s Someone Great and 2022’s Do Revenge. Robinson also co-wrote Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder, which was released in 2022, with Taika Waititi.
Leah McKendrick is writing the script for the upcoming horror flick, while Neil Moritz serves as a producer. Plot details remain largely under wraps at this time, though Deadline notes that Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar are expected to reprise their respective roles as Ray Bronson and Helen Shivers.
The new movie will be the fourth film entry in the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise. The original film, directed by Jim Gillespie, was released in October 1997. It was followed by 1998’s I Still Know What You Did Last Summer and 2006’s I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer.
Amazon Prime Video also released an I Know What You Did Last Summer television series in 2021.
