ABC has renewed Nathan Fillion’s popular police drama The Rookie for a sixth season. I guess this shouldn’t come as a surprise as it is one of the Top 5 most-watched scripted shows on the Disney-owned Network.
The series centers around a character named John Nolan who, after a life-altering incident, is pursuing his dream of joining the LAPD. As their oldest rookie, he’s met with skepticism from those who see him as just a walking midlife crisis. But, as the series follows him on his journey, he proves everyone wrong and he finds himself in the most ridiculous situations. People love it, though!
The fifth season is about to wrap up with the finale airing on May 2nd. I’ve been watching the series because I’m a fan of Fillion. It’s certainly not the best thing he’s done, but it manages to offer some silly crime drama entertainment.
Entertainment One (eOne) is the lead studio behind The Rookie, and it’s a co-production with ABC Signature. ABC Signature is a part of Disney Television Studios.
