Academy Award-winning actress Natalie Portman is known by fans of Star Wars as Padmé Amidala, a human female senator who represented the people of Naboo during the final years of the Galactic Republic. Prior to her career in the Galactic Senate, Amidala was the elected ruler of the Royal House of Naboo. A political idealist, she advocated for the preservation of democracy as well as a peaceful resolution to the Clone Wars. However, her secret marriage to the Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker would have a lasting effect on the future of the galaxy for decades to come.

She met her demise in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, when she died giving birth to Luke and Leah. Her fate was cemented, but that doesn’t mean the actress hasn’t thought of returning to Star Wars in some capacity.

In a Video Q&A for GQ, Portman was asked about returning to the franchise, and she responded:

“I have no information on this. No one’s ever asked me to return, but I’m open to it.”

This would be tricky, as a prequel would require her to be much younger, and a sequel wouldn’t work with the current lore. I don’t know how we could make this work, but I’m open to ideas! Do you think there’s a story in which Portman could return to play Padmé Amidala?
