Jonathan Majors‘ alleged abuse extends far beyond his recent ongoing legal issues, according to a new report from Rolling Stone.

In a lengthy investigation into Majors, Rolling Stone reports that Majors has been abusive in at least two past relationship, including being physically abusive in one relationship. The report cites stories from more than two dozen different sources, with friends of one of Majors’ ex-girlfriends claiming that his abuse had escalated to strangling his girlfriend at one point. Other sources called the relationship Majors had with one ex-girlfriend “emotional torture.”

Majors’ attorney, Dustin A. Pusch, denied these claims on behalf of Majors, calling the allegations “false” and “based entirely on hearsay.” His legal team also reportedly sent six testimonies to Rolling Stone from previous women that Majors had either dated or was close with to speak to Majors’ character. However, Rolling Stone noted that after reaching out to the six women, three say they never gave Majors’ team permission to release any statements, and another said that her statement had been pre-written and was “not truthful.”

Majors’ alleged issues include on-set and schooling behavior, as well

Alongside the allegations of abuse in his romantic relationships, the report also cites a variety of stories of Majors’ behavior on set. According to the report, Majors allegedly made members of the costume department cry during his time on the 2022 film Devotion, with one source calling the situation “borderline abusive,” and another saying that Majors seemed to enjoy the situations, saying that he took “some kind of sick pleasure” in it.

On the set of his upcoming film Magazine Dreams, Majors is alleged to have shoved one member of production and physically intimidated another, which led to someone complaining about the actor. Majors’ attorney denied these claims and instead pointed to Majors’ style of method acting, which the attorney said “can be misconstrued as rudeness at times.”

Majors’ time at Yale’s David Geffen School of Drama also came under scrutiny. According to the report, the actor was known for his intense behavior at school, and allegedly had gotten into “multiple” physical confrontations with other people, even during scenes. One alumni from the school said that people often “felt in physical danger around him.” Another noted that administrators once had to send out emails about rehearsal etiquette and violence after incidents involving Majors.

The news comes as Majors faces three counts of third-degree assault, second-degree aggravated harassment, three counts of third-degree attempted assault, and second-degree harassment. These stem from an incident in March in which he’s accused of assaulting a 30-year-old woman. Police cite that Majors allegedly struck “[the victim] about the face with an open hand, causing substantial pain and a laceration behind her ear.” Additionally, he allegedly grabbed her hand and neck, “causing bruising and substantial pain.”

Majors’ criminal defense lawyer previously stated Majors is “provably innocent” and expects charges to be dropped due to multiple witnesses and written retractions from the victim, followed by a later claim that there is video evidence of Majors’ innocence.
