After four episodes on Netflix, true crime fans are wondering if there will be a Missing: Dead or Alive episode 5 or any more episodes coming to the streaming platform. Here’s what we know about the future of the docu-series, whether that be an episode 5 or season 2 episode 1.
Is there a Missing: Dead or Alive episode 5 release date?
No, there is no Missing: Dead or Alive episode 5 release date.
At the time of writing, no more episodes of Missing: Dead or Alive have been commissioned.
Is there a Missing: Dead or Alive season 2 release date?
No, a Missing: Dead or Alive season 2 release date hasn’t been announced.
If the show does get given the green light for renewal by Netflix, it will likely be packaged as a second season, rather than a fifth episode.
The chances of more episodes are currently looking slim. While Missing: Dead or Alive has made its way into the Top 10 in a handful of countries, it may be for the wrong reasons. It has faced accusations of being staged or scripted. Some have taken issue with the way in which the show has portrayed the police.
In the end, it will be Netflix who has the final say. If the streaming giant sees big enough viewership numbers, then those in charge may find it difficult to deny giving it another run. This is despite the mediocre reviews.
Missing: Dead or Alive follows a group of police officers from a sheriff’s department in South Carolina, led by Vicki Raines who works alongside her Missing Persons Unit. They investigate and search for a number of individuals who have disappeared in strange circumstances. The four cases they’re investigating took place in 2020 and 2021. These include the likes of a lottery winner, and a young girl who disappears without a trace.
The Missing Persons Unit must piece together what little evidence they can find to reach a definitive conclusion. That can oftentimes be easier said than done. They use forensic analysis and witness interviews in the hopes of giving closure to those who are desperately seeking answers.
Missing: Dead or Alive is executive produced by Graeme McAulay and Stuart Froude. Meghan Just-Truelove serves as producer, with Alex Irvine-Cox as director.
