Marvel’s Ironheart series has been on a long road of with a few bumps along the way as there have been several delays with it. But, the studio has revealed that the series will finally premiere sometime in 2025.
Marvel also showed a trailer for Ironheart during its Disney Upfronts presentation. I already got to see some Ironheart footage at D23 a couple of years ago, and it seemed to get some fans excited.
IGN offered some details on the recent footage saying it “didn’t show much, but it did display some brief footage of Riri Williams’ (Dominique Thorne) struggle to get her suit of armor built.
“And it does give us an idea of where the series might pick up in Riri’s story: as a young student at MIT, we see her stealing various parts from around campus, and then getting booted from the institute for doing so.”
They go on to say that the rest of the trailer is “a couple of badass Ironheart suit shots.”
This is in line with the story arc in the comics as Riri’s origin story has her leaving school after being accused of the thefts.
The six-episode series was created by Chinaka Hodge, and the story follows Riri Williams, a young engineering genius and the creator of the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man. The series will be set after the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
It was previously said that the theme of Ironheart will be “Magic vs Tech.” Producer Nate Moore has said that he views the Ironheart series as a direct sequel to Wakanda Forever.
He said: “That show is an outgrowth of how much we liked her in this movie and even on the page. So, when we talked with [Dominique Throne] initially, obviously the character had been written to the script and she was the one and only person we talked about for the role. When she said yes and we were down the road with the script, we also started talking with [Ryan Coogler] about what the show could be.
“So, the show is a direct sequel to the movie. And [Riri Williams] is carrying the experiences she had in this movie back home to MIT. And there are some interesting repercussions to her adventures that will set her on a fun course.”
Ironheart also stars Anthony Ramos as the Marvel villain known as The Hood, Manny Montana, Alden Ehrenreich, Shea Couleé, and Zoe Terakes.
Ryan Coogler’s production company, Proximity, is producing the series, and Chinaka Hodge serves as the head writer. The series also stars Lyric Ross (This is Us) and Alden Ehrenreich (Solo).
