Mark Ruffalo is in talks to star in the upcoming Crime 101 adaptation, where he’ll co-star alongside Chris Hemsworth in the in-development project. This will reunite the two MCU co-stars after their double bill in Thor: Ragnarok.
According to Deadline, Ruffalo will also be attached to the project as a producer for the film, which is set to premiere in theaters next year. Bart Layton is writing and directing the movie, with Peter Straughan also contributing to the film’s script.
The project is based on the Don Winslow novella of the same name, which was released in 2021.
Pedro Pascal was originally linked to star alongside Hemsworth, but things didn’t move forward while he was on board. Currently, no other casting information or even plot details are available.
What is Crime 101 about?
“It’s a great crime story in the vein of Heat. High-level jewel thieves are taking place up and down the Pacific Coast, and police have linked the thefts to the Colombian cartels,” reads the synopsis for the novella. “Detective Lou Lubesnick has other ideas, and he zeroes in on one perp, a thief looking for a final score.”
Hemsworth most recently starred in Netflix’s action thriller sequel Extraction 2, in which he reprised his role as black ops mercenary Tyler Rake. He will next be seen portraying a villain in George Miller’s Mad Max prequel Furiosa and is also set to lend his voice to a young Optimus Prime in the animated prequel movie Transformers One.
Ruffalo most recently starred in Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things, a role that earned him an Academy Award nomination. He’ll also star in Bong Joon-ho’s upcoming film Mickey 17.
