Anthony Carrigan is the latest to join the cast of James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy and the announcement comes as landed his third Emmy nomination for his work on Barry.

Carrigan will take in the role of a superhero named Metamorpho, whose alter ego is the archaeologist Rex Mason. In the comics, Mason was transformed into Metamorpho after he was exposed to the light of an ancient meteor while on an expedition to find the Orb of Ra. He uses his ability to change into any element on the Periodic Table to fight crime, discover the world’s mysteries, and maybe get another chance at being human.

Yep, that sounds like the kind of DC character that Gunn would want to play with in the DC Cinematic Universe, and Carrigan is a perfect choice to play him!

Carrigan joins David Corenswet as Clark Kent / Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as his love interest Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner aka Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific.

The movie will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.” The story will involve “Superman joining a world in which superheroes already exist.” We are starting to see who these superheroes are and I imagine there are more coming.

Superman: Legacy will launch the movie part of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. It’s expected to begin in early 2024, just on track for its currently scheduled theatrical release on July 11, 2025.
