Lionsgate and Quentin Tarantino are teaming up to bring us a 4K remaster of the 2001 revenge thriller Kill Bill for its 20th anniversary. The studio has also picked up the distribution rights to Kill Bill: Volume 2 and Jackie Brown, rounding up their number of Tarantino titles to eight.

CEO Jon Feltheimer made the announcement during the company’s post-earning conference call and said: “We’ve grown what is now Hollywood’s largest portfolio of Tarantino films to include Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight, and Death Proof in addition to the movies we just picked up.”

Jim Packer, head of worldwide television and digital added: “It was a coup for us to get the three Quentin Tarantino movies. We have eight, which gives our library a unique situation in Hollywood, and we want to take advantage of that.”

With Kill Bill getting a 4K remaster, I hope that it also gets a re-release in theaters, because that one would be fun to revisit on the big screen! I imagine Kill Bill: Vol. 2 will also eventually get the 4K upgrade.

Somewhere down the line, it sure would be nice to see Kill Bill Vol. 3! If that happen, it would most likely happen as a series or a book.

Kill Bill follows “The Bride,” a former assassin played by Uma Thurman, seeking vengeance against her former colleagues in the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad (DiVAS) who betrayed her on her wedding day and left her for dead.

In Kill Bill: Volume 1, The Bride awakens from a four-year coma determined to hunt down and kill the people responsible for her suffering. She embarks on a bloody journey, targeting her former associates one by one. Along the way, she encounters O-Ren Ishii (Lucy Liu), a former Yakuza leader who now rules the Tokyo underworld, Vernita Green (Vivica A. Fox), a suburban housewife turned assassin, and Budd (Michael Madsen), a bouncer and former DiVAS member. The Bride defeats each of them, but her ultimate target, Bill (David Carradine), remains elusive.

In Kill Bill: Volume 2, The Bride continues her quest to eliminate her remaining enemies. She tracks down Elle Driver (Daryl Hannah), a one-eyed assassin, and confronts Budd, who has retired to a secluded trailer. After defeating both of them, The Bride finally faces Bill, who reveals the truth about their past and the circumstances that led to her betrayal. The final confrontation between The Bride and Bill culminates in a tense and emotional climax.
