Tracklist highlights include Spinning Globe, the theme song for Studio Ghibli’s Academy Award-winning film The Boy and the Heron. Also included is KICK BACK, the opening theme for the TV anime Chainsaw Man. This track made Yonezu the first Japanese artist to rank on Spotify’s “Top 50 – Global” chart and the first Japanese language song to achieve Gold certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The album also includes eight brand-new, never-before-heard songs, and jacket artwork illustrated by Yonezu himself.
LOST CORNER physical CDs will be available in localized versions in Taiwan (via Sony Music Taiwan) and Hong Kong (via Sony Music Hong Kong). The North American version will be released in the UK and Europe, and the Taiwanese version will also be available in South Korea. All international versions will match the Japanese Standard edition but will not be available in Japan.
This album is Yonezu’s highly anticipated follow-up to 2020’s record-breaking album STRAY SHEEP, which became the highest-ranking Japanese album on the IFPI year-end global chart. It shipped over 1.9 million cumulative CD units.
Check out the musician’s latest music video, Mainichi – Every Day below. It is one of the 20 tracks featured on the upcoming album LOST CORNER.
In 2009, Yonezu began producing original music under the pseudonym “Hachi”, creating now-iconic Vocaloid songs such as Matryoshka. After taking the Vocaloid scene by storm, Kenshi Yonezu began releasing materials under his real name in 2012.
2023 was a landmark year for Yonezu, highlighted by significant contributions and achievements. Yonezu wrote LADY for a Georgia coffee TV commercial, followed by Tsuki Wo Miteita – Moongazing as the theme song for the game FINAL FANTASY XVI. In July, he released Spinning Globe for Studio Ghibli’s film The Boy and the Heron, a song that took him four years to produce. In August, his song KICK BACK received gold certification from the RIAA, making him the first Japanese artist to achieve this milestone for a song with Japanese lyrics. He was also the first Japanese artist to be part of the “RIAA Class of 2023”.
In April 2024, Yonezu wrote Sayonara, Mata Itsuka! – Sayonara as the theme song for the NHK Morning Drama The Tiger and Her Wings. In May, he released Mainichi – Every Day, which was featured in a Coca-Cola Japan Georgia commercial.
Yonezu’s music video for Lemon has surpassed 800 million views, continuing to set records for Japanese artists.
