During Las Vegas CinemaCon, actor-director John Krasinski confirmed the IF cast members who will be lending their voices to Paramount Pictures’ upcoming family comedy-drama alongside joining him and Ryan Reynolds.

The A Quiet Place creator enlisted an A-list cast including Matt Damon, Jon Stewart, Emily Blunt, Sam Rockwell, Richard Jenkins, Maya Rudolph, Awkwafina, Christopher Meloni, Sebastian Maniscalco, and Vince Vaughn to lend their voices to the imaginary friends that will be featured in the project.

According to Krasinski, the film will feature a young girl who has the ability to see people’s imaginary friends who have been left behind after their real-life pals grew up. “Imaginary friends are not just these adorable creations, they are time capsules for our hopes, dreams, ambitions,” Krasinski said during his presentation (via The Hollywood Reporter). “I wanted people to leave this movie believing in something bigger and believing in something beautiful. It’s very real, and it’s very possible.”

IF is written and directed by John Krasinski (A Quiet Place films), based on his original idea about a child’s journey in rediscovering their imagination. Joining him and Reynolds are The Office alum Steve Carell, Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Indiana Jones 5), and Harry Potter vet Fiona Shaw, along with Minari breakout Alan Kim, Cailey Fleming (The Walking Dead), Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live) and Oscar winner Louis Gossett Jr. (Watchmen)

The project has been in development since 2019, with Paramount Pictures winning the rights to the project in a bidding war against multiple studios. It is produced by Krasinski, Allyson Seeger, and Andrew Form through their Sunday Night banner, along with Reynolds for Maximum Effort. George Dewey is also executive producing via Maximum Effort.

The film is scheduled to make its debut on May 24, 2024.
