Weirdly enough, I actually made a playlist of Perfume’s 80s sounding cuts before Plasma had even released. And then Plasma dropped with a handful of 80s-ass sounding songs, and I was like ‘Oh?’. Then Cosmic Explorer 2 dropped and I was like “OH!?’. My playlist was originally a 12 track makeshift album with an 80s / Disco theme. But with Nebula Romance: Part 1 running with both these themes and fully rounding out the buzzy 80s corner of Perfume’s discography, I chose to just make a whole new playlist which features all of these songs.
So, I present you… Starlight Disco.
It’s a shame Perfume didn’t go in this direction for the Nebula Romance: Episode 1 Tour setlist. Or just take my whole wishlist setlist. But Perfume’s studio album tour setlists rarely make any damn sense. And whatever vibe the album was trying to go for gets completely lost at some point. The Plasma tour setlist still baffles me. Opening the tour with “Flow”? “Natural ni Koishite” and “Party Maker”!?
Fuzishen na Gurl.
