With all the gorgeous and realistic-looking visuals, special effects, and action sequences depicted in the movie, fans could not help but wonder, “What was the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes budget?” and how much did Disney spend in the production of the latest film of the Planet of the Apes reboot franchise. Released in May 2024, this new installment continues the story established by the previous movies and is set 300 years after Caesar’s death in a world where the future of both apes and humans hangs in the balance.

So how much did it cost to make Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes? Here is everything you need to know.

What is Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ production budget?

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes had a reported production budget of $120 million. However, the actual number is currently unknown.

Speaking to The Direct, Wes Ball, the movie’s director, mentioned that the production of the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes cost significantly less than the last film, War for the Planet of the Apes. This seems to line up with what Rob Burnett of the John Campea show mentioned last month, wherein he said that Steve Asbell (the president of 20th Century Studios) told him that the movie was made for $30 million less compared to War for the Planet of the Apes, which cost reportedly $150 million to make. Thus, both of these reports line up with the $120 million figure.

However, Deadline recently reported a much higher figure of $165 million for the movie’s production budget.

Is Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ budget more expensive than Rise, Dawn and War?

Given its reported $120 million budget, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ budget is more expensive than Rise’s budget, which is reportedly $93 million, and less expensive compared to Dawn and War’s budgets, which are reportedly $170 million and $150 million, respectively.

It is interesting to see how Wes Ball and the rest of the movie crew managed to pull off a film with incredible visuals, set pieces, action sequels, and special effects, despite the smaller claimed $120 million budget.
