tvN’s upcoming K-drama Wise Resident Life, a spin-off of the popular medical drama Hospital Playlist, has postponed its release date. The storyline of the drama revolves around the professional and personal lives of the doctors. It shows how they deal with critical situations and also maintain their friendships.
Go Youn-Jung, Shin Si-A, Kang Yoo-Seok, and Jung Joon-won will star in the drama. Sharing the same worldview as Hospital Playlist, this drama delves deep into the hospital life of a first-year resident at Jongno Yulje Obstetrics and Gynecology. Go Youn-Jung will play the lead character. The drama is being postponed because of a mass strike in the medical industry.
tvN’s Wise Resident Life release date gets delayed
The drama was on the list of shows lined up to release in the first half of 2024. However, due to the medical strike, the highly anticipated drama cannot get a release date. CJ ENM told Sports World on May 16, 2024, “The timing of tvN’s ‘Wise Resident Life’ is undecided.” This hints that the drama might get a release next year.
As assumed, Wise Resident Life was supposed to air right after Queen of Tears‘ conclusion. However, last March, the mass protests against the government’s policy of increasing the medical student quotas resulted in a strike. Furthermore, people have started to see the medical residents in a different light. As the drama revolves around the lives of medical residents, the creators decided to put a pause on its release. Even the teaser trailer received malicious comments from the viewers. One asked, “Is the major’s collective strike also covered in the drama?”
Additionally, during tvN‘s Media Talk, when the drama and entertainment line-up for the second half of this year was released, the Wise Resident Life drama was missing. However, the filming of the series is already over. Until the strike resolves, the release date of the drama will remain undecided.
