Even though Henry Cavill is finished with The Witcher, he’s still pumped up for fans to watch Season 3, and in a recent interview with Netflix’s Tudum, the actor hyped the series and the growing and dangerous threat that Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer are facing on the Continent. One thing is for sure, these characters are going to face their toughest challenge yet.

Cavill said: “Now, there is a real threat. It’s genuine; it’s no longer theoretical – it’s practical. And it’s very, very dangerous. They are walking into the lion’s den everywhere they go.”

Then there is the war that is coming upon them, and when talking about how this is going to be different for Geralt, Cavill said: “Geralt has been very nonchalant about these threats of war and famine and the end times. He’s like, ‘Look. I’ve been there, done that. It’s not the end times. It’s just going to be another fight.’ Because everyone is after Ciri, that changes his entire perspective on things.”

I like the doom and gloom of this epic fantasy series, but there will be some light-hearted aspects to the story as well, specifically with Joey Batey’s Jaskier who teases some romance coming his way.

Batley said: “He’s having his hot girl summer. It’s been really rewarding to see [his love life] told in a very visual way. [We] ensured that these romances are told truthfully – and sensitively and carefully, without resorting to stereotypes… Hopefully, we’ve created something that is special, a sapioromantic and sapiosexual [connection] that is as flawed as any other relationship in this show.”

The show will also continue to explore Yennefer and Geralt’s relationship, and in regards to that, Anya Chalotra said: “One thing that they can’t deny is their history and the connection that’s inescapable. They’re pulled towards each other, but more important than that, they need each other.”

In The Witcher Season 3, “as monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line — or risk losing each other forever.”

The series also stars Jodhi May as Calanthe, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson as Eist, Adam Levy as Mousesack, MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, Mimi Ndiweni as Fringilla, Therica Wilson-Read as Sabrina, Emma Appleton as Renfri, Eamon Farren as Cahir, Lars Mikkelsen as Stregobor, Royce Pierreson as Istredd, Maciej Musiał as Sir Lazlo, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte as Dara), and Anna Shaffer as Triss. Newcomers include Robbie Amell (Upload), Meng’er Zhang (Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings) as Milva, Hugh Skinner (Mamma Mia Here We Go Again!) as Prince Radovid, and Christelle Elwin (Half Badas) Mistle.

The series comes from producer and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich who already shared that the upcoming season will adapt Andrzej Sapkowski‘s Time of Contempt, which is the second novel in The Witcher saga.
