Fukuro will release their first single ROAD TO THE FUTURE on November 23, and ahead of time, revealed their amazing 2D animated music video for the title track.

Captured entirely in black and white, each band member occupies a uniquely designed room in an apartment building. These rooms become a performance space as they play the fun jazzy number and dictate how they interact with their environment. What’s clear though is that everyone’s having a fantastic time!

The interaction aspect finds Yoshiatsu getting up to all kinds of antics such as climbing the walls in his upside-down room and falling through the floor. Then pianist Daisuki shoots bubbles from his window onto the street below, scaring off an old lady.  Bassist Yutara plays video games in a room full of tech. Finally, drummer Lotto wanders around his bar drinking wine and petting his 2D dog.

What’s most surprising is Yoshiatsu’s tap dancing and how the music changes to accommodate this cool part of the song. In addition, subtitles of the lyrics appear on screen in Japanese and English translations, focusing on the story being told.

The lyrics depict a place we can only speculate as a utopia or a dystopia. On one hand, the English translation presents that “You can get bread for free” and that “The water supply is endless” but on the other, “Things such as rice are outlawed” and “You can’t drink the water”. In that case, the chorus “Welcome to the future, the peace that you’ve all been waiting for” seems both ironic and satirical, especially with the visuals in the music video.

Check out their artist photos, which show the band members on King playing cards, except Yoshiatsu’s one, which has a rip revealing a joker card on the opposite side.
