HBO‘s head of drama has hinted at the Euphoria Season 3 release date window. But there’s a catch: the series probably won’t be out for at least another two years.

When is the Euphoria Season 3 release date window?

In a recent profile for Deadline, HBO’s head of drama Francesca Orsi was asked about Euphoria’s status. Orsi said that between creator Sam Levinson’s other HBO series, The Idol, and the ongoing strike, Euphoria Season 3 likely won’t debut until 2025.

“Euphoria is one of those that we had begun writing in tandem with post-production on Idol but at this point, we don’t have countless scripts,” Orsi said of the Euphoria Season 3 release date window. “We can’t start shooting, so the delivery of that show — ideally in 2025 — will be determined on when we can pick back up with Sam, who at this point is all pencils down and just finishing posts on Idol.”

This isn’t the first time that Euphoria has had a long delay in between seasons. Following the show’s premiere in 2019, the second season was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Season 2 eventually premiered in 2022, but now it looks like Season 3 might take even longer due to other circumstances. Deadline notes these include the busy schedule of Zendaya, who has since exploded into superstardom.

Based on an Israeli series of the same name, Euphoria follows a group of high school students as they struggle to move through the worlds of drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love, and friendship.

It features an ensemble cast that includes Zendaya in the lead role of Rue. Also starring in the series are Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, Barbie Ferreira, Storm Reid, Sydney Sweeney, Algee Smith, Jacob Elordi,  Austin Abrams, Eric Dane, and Nika King. Joining the new season are Javon Walton and Dominic Fike.

Euphoria is created and written by Sam Levinson, who is also executive producing with Zendaya, Drake, Adel “Future” Nur, and original creators Ron Leshem & Daphna Levin.

Ravi Nandan, Kevin Turen, Hadas Mozes Lichtenstein, Mirit, Toovi, Yoram Mokadi, and Gary Lennon are executive producing, with Kenneth Yu, Ashley Levinson, Harrison Kreiss, and Julio Perez serving as co-producers.
