Let’s talk about Yu-Gi-Oh! There’s a bit of Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game news that I’ve neglected to share and Konami was kind enough to send out a box of Legacy of Destruction for me to open.
First, the news. Back in March, Konami announced The Infinite Forbidden, a new booster set launching in July. The pack will have new cards for Exodia fans including a new Fusion monster that can get lots of attack points, has a free Spell/Trap negate it seems, and will search Exodia Spell/Trap cards for you.
There will also be a new theme involving “tablet” monsters that play like Spell cards and then Special Summon via Life Points. Basically, a reverse Crystal Beast but the idea harkens back to the Ancient Egypt duels that fans saw in the Duel Monsters anime.
This theme will have a Spell card that will let you do the Special Summons without paying Life Points and it is used to summon the new Exodia Fusion. Sounds like a possibly fun gimmick deck, but I wouldn’t expect to see it much at tournaments.
There will be 100 new cards and a “special card” that will only be available as a Quarter Century Secret Rare for a total of 101. The Infinite Forbidden will release on July 17 and include nine cards per pack (MSRP: $4.49) with the following rarity breakdown:
