A new report has surfaced claiming that singer and songwriter Dua Lipa is being courted for the role of Meg in Disney’s live-action remake of Hercules.

When the project was first announced, it was revealed that Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo were on board as producers, and Guy Ritchie was set to direct.

There were also previous rumors that Taron Edgerton and Ariana Grande were up for the roles of Hercules and Meg, and while there’s every chance they will end up being cast, we may be able to add another name to the mix for the movie’s female lead.

This latest news about Meg comes from the reliable Disney source the DisInsider, but they don’t say whether Lipa is actually in talks, only that the studio “likes” her for the part.

Lipa made a brief cameo in Barbie, and she has a minor supporting role in Argylle, but she is looking to make a big splash in Hollywood as an actress. She definitely he the looks and the voice to play Meg! As far as her acting goes, I’m sure she’d be good.

When previously talking about how they got involved with the project, Anthony Russo explained: “Both us and our kids are Hercules fanatics. And we had heard that Disney was interested in revisiting it and we’re in love with the original. And we made a case as to why we felt we would be right to produce that film and here we are.”

Joe went on to say: “I think you always have to bring something new to the table because from our perspective as storytellers, it’s not compelling for us to do a literal translation. We’ve already done that with our Marvel films.

“We don’t do literal translations of the comics because we feel like if you want that story you can go read that story. We’re going to give you a different story. I think we’ll do something that’s in the vein of the original and inspired by it, but we also bring some new elements to the table.”

In another interview, the Russos revealed that they’re still “waiting on a script,” and they said: “There are questions about how you translate it as a musical. Audiences today have been trained by TikTok, right? What is their expectation of what that musical looks like and feels like? That can be a lot of fun and help us push the boundaries a little bit on how you execute a modern musical.”
