Director Shawn Levy is playing a whole new game of filmmaking with Marvel Studios and Deadpool & Wolverine, and he recently talked about his experience making the film and whether or not there are talks to return for Deadpool 4.
During a recent interview, the filmmaker was asked about the possibility of returning to helm another Deadpool movie, and while this is an answer he doesn’t have, he does say that Deadpool & Wolverine was the hardest thing he’s ever done.
Levy said: “Usually I have to lie. I’m waiting for the questions when I have to lie and pretend I don’t know the answer, but this one I can sincerely say I don’t know.”
He went on to add: “But I can, in the same breath, say, ‘Man, this thing has been the hardest, most all-consuming thing I’ve ever done. But it’s also been the most creatively gratifying.'”
The director continued: “Because with Deadpool, there’s no rules. It is, in its very DNA, built on tonal audacity. So, for a filmmaker, what a delight. And to do it with my best friend Ryan, my other buddy Hugh, the three of us who have known each other now for a very long time, it was just a blast.”
“Because if you work with friends, you don’t mind making an ass of yourself. And if you’re working on something that’s comedic, you better be willing to fall on your face,” he concluded.
One thing I know for sure is that Deadpool & Wolverine is going to be a massive hit and Marvel and Disney are going to want to continue to rake in the dough with more Deadpool movies. We can only hope that as they continue to pump out these films, they make sure the standard of quality remains high.
Levy recently said that he would love to make a Deadpool & Spider-Man movie, which is something that would be amazing!
Levy said: “The thing about Deadpool is I think he makes everything more interesting because of his audacity. But, boy, I’d sure love to see Deadpool and Spidey. That’s a movie I’d love to make. I feel like Tom Holland would run circles around everyone else.”
I would love nothing more than for this to be the next Deadpool film! What are your thoughts on he future of the Deadpool film franchise?
It’s pretty wild to look back on the franchise an how 20th Century Fox avoided it for so long, and they would’ve kept avoiding it had that concept trailer not been leaked, which led to fan demanding it.
