Chris Hemsworth Has starred in his fair share of great action films, many of them for Marvel Studios. It’s safe to say he knows his way around the block when it comes to certain stunts and fight sequences, but the actor says that stunts he had to do in his upcoming action-thriller Extraction 2 are the most brutal that he’s faced yet.

A couple of trailers have already been released for Extraction 2, and the movie looks freakin’ awesome! It looks a lot better than the first movie and the footage teases some intense action and fight scenes, one of which included Hemsworth being set on fire! During an interview with Total Film, the actor talked about the stunt work and how hard it was for him:

“It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I’m not exaggerating. At the end of a take, you’re sucking air like you never have before, and everyone drops to their knees. But it’s so much more rewarding. I would love to take this style and integrate it into a Marvel film, if I was ever to do another one.”

There was one sequence in particular that he found extremely tough for him. It is a 21-minute long one-shot scene, which you can see in the Extraction 2 trailer, and it follows his character Tyler Rake breaking a woman out of prison. “He first fights his way down a maze of stone corridors. Then across a prison yard. Then his waiting vehicle is pursued by multiple armored jeeps at high speed. And then he boards a speeding train and fights in it and on it as helicopters swoop and land atop the hurtling locomotive, unloading fire and goons.” Hemsworth added:

“It was like, ‘I don’t know if I can get to the end of this round. It’s like a boxing match: ‘When is the bell going to ring? When are they going to call cut?'”

“I couldn’t get a stunt double to come in and do any of the oner, because it’s me all in-camera and there’s no hiding around the edits. So I had this physio on set who was named The Wizard. He would see me just sit there and start leaning in a different way. He’d grab me, pull me aside and quickly dig his hands into my back and my shoulder or whatever, and send me back out there. I’d get home and it would be straight into the ice bath, right into the sauna, and physio. A few anti-inflammatory tablets. And then back out there.”

Now, that sounds like it would be a great time making a movie! I love these kinds of movies, the ones where the actors actually go through the madness of filming the actual action sequences. Hemsworth would have fit right in with those action stars from the ‘80s. Extraction 2 is a movie that I’m definitely excited about!

In the film, “After barely surviving the events of the first movie, Rake is back as the Australian black ops mercenary, tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held.”

The movie was directed by stuntman turned filmmaker Sam Hargrave, and ex-Marvel directors Joe and Anthony Russo are producing. Hemsworth is joined in the film by Golshifteh Farahani, Daniel Bernhardt, and Tinatin Dalakishvili.

Extraction 2 will hit Netflix on June 16th, 2023.
