As soon as the animated hit movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse hit theaters back in 2018, fans were stoked to see what was in store for Miles Morales, aka Spider-Man, in this beautiful universe. We had to wait five years before his return in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, but the second film upped the ante in such a fun and stunning way, with a cliff-hanger to boot! So now we could not be more excited for the third film to come out!

Some fans have been worries that with this year’s writers strike, the film’s March 29, 2024 release date could be affected. While that possibility hangs in the balance, one of the film’s stars, Jake Johnson, who plays the older Peter B. Parker in the films, assures us that the third movie is going to be epic.

In a recent interview with Comic Book, Johnson was asked what he could say about the third film, and he replied:

“Here’s what I can promise, and I said it about the second one when we were in the middle of it: Phil Lord, Chris Miller, everybody, the producers on this, the directors they’re going to bring in … What they did on the first one is all the directors became executive producers. So they just keep adding to it. What I can promise is they are not going to stop until it’s excellent,” Johnson confirmed with ComicBook.com. “And if that means it takes a little bit longer, if that means it’s even bigger, if that means it’s longer — they don’t play by anybody’s rules. They work really hard. As actors in it, we’re always shocked that we get called in to record on this last one. I think it was a month before it screened, where we could not believe we were still recording. So they’re not going to quit until it’s great and I have nothing but faith in them. But in terms of giving anything away [about the story], can’t do it.”

Fans of the franchise really had no doubt that the third movie would be just as strong as the first two, but it’s still cool to hear. And it’s awesome that the studio realizes what a hit it has, and isn’t going to push the creators to make a deadline over making an awesome, quality flick.
