Sony Pictures has announced that they are developing a sixth film in the Insidious horror franchise and they’ve set the release date of it for August 29, 2025.
We don’t have any story details for the project, but it will follow the events in the last film, Insidious: The Red Door, which was directed by Patrick Wilson, who made his directorial debut with the film.
There’s also no word on who will be directing, writing, or starring in the movie.
The Insidious franchise was launched in 2010 by James Wan and Leigh Whannell and it focuses on the existence of a dark and sinister realm known as The Further, an otherworldly dimension beyond the veil inhabited by vengeful spirits and demons.
I’ve enjoyed watching movies in this franchise and it’ll be interesting to see what this next story will tell.
There is also a spinoff currently in the works coming from director Jeremy Slater titled Thread: An Insidious Tale. That movie stars Mandy Moore and Kumail Nanjiani.
