After leaking online a bit early, the official Kraven the Hunter trailer is here, previewing Aaron Taylor-Johnson as he transforms into Marvel’s iconic hunter.

The trailer was originally rumored to release later this week but ended up leaking online earlier today. Now, it’s out for everyone to see, and teases the origin story of the iconic comic book character. In the brief trailer, Kraven’s (played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson) origin story is seemingly switched up slightly.

Instead of consuming various potions like in the comics, the trailer hints at Kraven getting his signature superhuman strength and agility following a lion attack as a child. The trailer also showcases some other actors set to star in the film, including Russell Crowe, Ariana DeBose, and more.

A new poster for the film was also released, showing an incredibly muscular Taylor-Johnson in the iconic pose of Kraven the Hunter as he sits on a throne made of antlers and skulls.

Who is in Kraven the Hunter?

Kraven the Hunter will feature Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Avengers: Age of Ultron) as he takes on the mantle of the titular Spider-Man villain, a Russian immigrant named Sergei Kravinoff. In the film, which is being billed as the next chapter of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, he goes on a mission to prove that he is the greatest hunter in the world.

Joining Taylor-Johnson in Sony’s R-rated Marvel movie is Fred Hechinger (Fear Street Trilogy, The White Lotus) as Chameleon, Kraven’s half-brother; Oscar nominee Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) as Calypso, the occasion partner and lover of Kraven; Russell Crowe and Levi Miller in undisclosed roles. Christopher Abbott and Alessandro Nivola have also been tapped as the main villains.

Kraven the Hunter is directed by Oscar nominee J.C. Chandor (A Most Violent Year) from a screenplay co-written by Richard Wenk (The Equalizer films), Matt Holloway, and Art Marcum. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing the project.
