Treat Williams, who has starred in Everwood and 127 Hours, has passed away at the age of 71 in a motorcycle accident in Dorset, VT.

The accident happened around 5 p.m. ET and involved Williams’ motorcycle and a single car. The driver of the single car did not see Williams. Williams was the only person hurt in the crash. A helicopter arrived to airlift him to the hospital.

Williams’s family issued a statement to Deadline, saying, “Treat was full of love for his family, for his life, and for his craft, and was truly at the top of his game in all of it. … To all his fans, please know that Treat appreciated all of you, and please continue to keep him in your hearts and prayers.”

He played the lead Dr. Andy Brown on The WB’s Everwood, a drama TV series that helped launch the careers of Chris Pratt, Gregory Smith, and Emily VanCamp. In 1979, Williams appeared as George Berger in Miloš Forman’s Hair and Corporal Chuck ‘Stretch’ Sitarski in Steven Spielberg’s 1941.

Treat Williams is survived by his wife, actress Pam Van Sant, and their two children, Gille and Ellie.
