The third season of The Witcher arrives this June, but Netflix is already planning for the future. Season 4 is officially greenlit, but casting director Sophie Holland confirmed The Witcher Season 5 and its shooting timetable in an interview with Deadline.

“We’re just about to start filming on season four with Liam Hemsworth and there will be a short gap then we go straight into season five,” Holland said.

What to Expect For the Future of The Witcher Franchise?

Based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s book series of the same name, The Witcher depicts the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, the magically enhanced monster-hunter known as a witcher. Henry Cavill stars as Geralt, whose destiny is to protect Ciri (Freya Allan), the princess of Cintra. The series also follows Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra), the quarter-elf sorceress.

Created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, Witcher Season 1 debuted on December 20, 2019, and Season 2 premiered on December 17, 2021. This first season is the ninth most popular English TV series on Netflix. The first five episodes of Season 3 hit Netflix on June 29, with the final three episodes arriving on July 27.

Besides Cavill, Allan, and Chalotra, The Witcher ensemble features Eamon Farren, MyAnna Buring, Joey Batey, Anna Shaffer, Mimî M. Khayisa, Royce Pierreson, Mahesh Jadu, and Wilson Mbomio. When The Witcher returns for Season 4, it will feature Liam Hemsworth as Geralt, who replaces Cavill, who left the project in October 2022.

The Witcher franchise has expanded since its debut on Netflix. A prequel miniseries, The Witcher: Blood Origin, premiered in December 2022, while an animated origin story, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, launched in August 2021.
