According to industry insider Jeff Sneider on The Hot Mic Podcast, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania writer Jeff Loveness is no longer writing Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
Is Jeff Loveness still writing Avengers: The Kang Dynasty?
In the most recent episode of the podcast, Sneider revealed that, according to his sources, Loveness is “off of” the upcoming Avengers film and that the decision was made prior to when the WGA strike began earlier this month.
“This is unconfirmed,” Sneider asserted. “My source is saying that Jeff Loveness is off of [Avengers:] The Kang Dynasty, and that he fell off before the strike.”
Sneider was then asked if Marvel is restarting the Phase 6 film with a new writer. He confirmed that this is true and that it sounds like the studio is “going in another direction.”
“Yes, that is exactly what it means,” he stated. “Jeff Loveness, deserved or not, got a lot of criticism for his scripts and, yes, it sounds like they are going in another direction … from what my source says.”
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will be directed by Shang-Chi filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton, who’s also currently working with Marvel Studios on its live-action series adaptation of Wonder Man. According to Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige during the panel, both of the new Avengers films are currently planned to be the final entries in Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which will begin with the introduction of the Fantastic Four into the MCU.
The film is currently scheduled to make its debut in theaters on May 2, 2025, it will then shortly be followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on November 7, 2025.
