Mia Goth has shared some new insight on her upcoming film MaXXXine, which will wrap up director Ti West’s Pearl horror trilogy which also includes X and Pearl.

The movie will be set in 1980s Los Angeles, and Goth reprises her role as the lone survivor of the “Farmer’s Daughter” in X. The story follows Maxine, “after the events of X, as the sole survivor who continues her journey towards fame setting out to make it as an actress.”

The actress has now offered some additional insight on the movie, in which she explains that she sees MaXXXine as a superhero movie. She told SFX Magazine:

“I see MaXXXine as a superhero movie – that’s how I read the script. Maxine, as a character, has come a long way. She’s a survivor, she’s gone through a lot. When we meet her again, in this new world that she’s in, she’s really fought for everything that she has, and she’s not about to give that up. She’s going to fight for what she has. She’s a badass. There’s a strength to her. And she’s a really proactive, determined, focused woman. She goes after what she wants, and she’s not really going to take no for an answer.”

When previously talking about the project, Goth hyped it up, saying: “It’s my favorite script of the three. Everything’s bigger. The world is bigger, the stakes are bigger. It’s going to provide the greatest cinematic experience of the three of them.”

West added: “If X is a movie where they’re trying to make independent porn, and if Pearl is about her wanting to be part of ‘the movie business’, as difficult as that may be, then MaXXXine is certainly a different perspective on it. The world of straight-to-video plays a role.”

Goth will be joined in the film by Lily Collins (Emily in Paris), Kevin Bacon (City on a Hill), Elizabeth Debicki (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Michelle Monaghan (Nanny), Moses Sumney (The Idol), Bobby Cannavale (The Watcher), Halsey (Americana), and Giancarlo Esposito (Better Call Saul).
