Created by James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd, The Terminator universe is a property that spans across different forms of media, including feature films, television series, comic books, novels, and video games.

Engaging A.I Trope

The Terminator universe is set in a post-apocalyptic future, in which a race of artificially intelligent machines have taken over the world, and exterminated most of humanity. The remaining survivors are led by John Connor, who leads a resistance against the machines. The primary objective of the machines is to kill John Connor, in order to prevent him from leading the humans in a future war against the machines.

The Journey

The franchise began with the release of The Terminator in 1984, and continued with the sequels Terminator 2: Judgment Day and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. In 2009, the franchise was semi rebooted with the release of Terminator Salvation but due to it’s poor reception it was then rebooted In 2015 with the release of Terminator Genisys. Unfortunately that failed to improve the franchise prospect and the series was scrapped by its then copyright owner. Eventually the Copyright reverted back to James Cameron and he attempted to course correct the franchise that lead to in my opinion one of the worse entry in the series Terminator Dark Fate (More on that in the future). The franchise has been met with mixed critical reception, but has been successful at the box office, with a combined worldwide box office gross of over $1.8 billion.

Man V Machine

Many events occur in the franchise, but the overarching story is about the war between humans and machines. Since they became aware of humans, the machines have attempted to exterminate them. When John Connor sends Kyle Reese back in time to protect his mother, Sarah Connor, it is the best moment in the Terminator franchise. This is a significant moment because it is when John Connor becomes the leader of the resistance and begins to fight back against the machines.

The Terminator Universe is a fascinating and complex world, with many stories to tell. The films and TV shows have spawned a wealth of fan fiction and speculation, and there is much more to explore. The characters are rich and memorable, and the world is ripe for further exploration.
