A pile of colourful floppy discs. With one pink disc with a label on it, which features the cover art of my Mariah Carey featuring Mariah Carey remix. The cover art of which features an image of an iPhone, with Mariah Carey and Megan Thee Stallion FaceTiming on the screen and both laughing. And the phone is surrounded by various small objects, including a pack of M&Ms, gummy snakes, a box of Ozempic and a Burn Book from Mean Girls.

When I listened to Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hiss” and heard the line ‘I feel like Mariah Carey, got these n****s so obsessed’, I knew what needed to be done.

“Obsessed” wasn’t a song I was all that keen on when it first released. I felt similarly to it as I did “Touch My Body” and “Heartbreaker”, which was ‘The song isn’t doing much for me. But the music video is really cool and shows us a fun side of Mariah we don’t often see in music videos’. But as was the case with “Heartbreaker”, “Obsessed” became a song which really grew on me over time, and I kind of adore it now. That’s how it be with Mariah’s songs sometimes. They’re just fashionably late to being liked.

So much of Mariah’s music is timeless, that she could just put new features them and re-release them. I genuinely think Mariah should put Megan Thee Stallion on “Obsessed” and release it as an official remix. It just makes sense. Not just because of Megan’s line referencing the song, but because she and Mariah both have shared experience of having a fallout with that rapper woman with the pink wigs and having men in music act heinous over some kiss and tell and bullshit. But there is also the connection that Megan now has to Mean Girls, having featured on the song “Not My Fault” with Reneé Rapp for the soundtrack to the 2024 film based on the musical. It all makes too much sense to not be a thing.

Mariah. Girl. Feel free to use my mashup as an idea, and get Megan to write new lyrics for a remix. Don’t bother giving us new vocals though. Not after how “Big Energy”, “Yes, And?” and “Made for Me” turned out.
