sukekiyo’s “Ius Cerebri / Sinistro Cerebrum” marks band’s 10th anniversary

sukekiyo debuts the audio-visual compilation Ius Cerebri / Sinistro Cerebrum on July 24, showcasing 27 carefully selected songs spanning their 10-year history. These tracks are split between two CDs, each centered around its own theme—Ius Cerebri and Sinistro Cerebrum.

The jacket art, created by digital artist HIRO, depicts two girls symbolizing contrasting themes of darkness and light. HIRO, known for illustrating the jacket art for sukekiyo’s AMOR, brings this striking imagery to life.

The regular editions of Ius Cerebri and Sinistro Cerebrum will be sold separately. Additionally, an exclusive edition, available only on the official webshop Galaxy Broadshop, includes both CDs, a Blu-ray, and a redeemable code for a livestream viewing (while supplies last). Meaning “the right side of the brain” in Latin, Ius Cerebri is believed to be the center of creative, emotional, and abstract thought. The songs chosen for Ius Cerebri evoke a dreamy and sentimental atmosphere, fitting this theme. This collection includes 12 previously released tracks, plus the first official release of Valentina and a re-recorded version of zephyr.

Originally featured on sukekiyo’s debut album IMMORTALIS in 2014, zephyr now sees a revisit. Vocalist Kyo shared insights on its re-recording on X, mentioning changes made to lyrics and melody. As one of my personal favorite tracks, I’m excited to hear how zephyr has evolved a decade later.

In contrast to Ius Cerebri, sukekiyo introduces the second installment in this collection, Sinistro Cerebrum. Meaning “the left side of the brain” in Latin, this section is linked with analytical, verbal, and logical thinking. The songs selected for this collection carry a heavier atmosphere, exploring darker themes, such as Waizatsu (猥雑) from the 2019 album INFINITUM.

The tracklist features 11 previously released songs, along with the previously unreleased demo track Sesshoku (接触) and a new version of Naburi (嬲り).

The Galaxy Broadshop exclusive edition contains both CDs Ius Cerebri and Sinistro Cerebrum, and adds a Blu-ray packed with exclusive footage. For the hardcore sukekiyo fan, this is the total package.

First, the Blu-ray includes three music videos—Valentina, created for this collection, a previously unreleased music video for Hyouhaku flavor (漂白フレーバー), and an extra clip for Naburi (嬲り).

Next, the Blu-ray includes live clips of eight songs from the sukekiyo TOUR2023 ‘Nuimasu, Ruisen wo.’ shows that took place at Namba Hatch and Kanda Square Hall in February 2023.

Last but not least, the Blu-ray includes documentary footage covering the 10-year history of sukekiyo since its formation.

Alongside the three discs, the Galaxy Broadshop edition includes a NeSTREAM LIVE CARD featuring HIRO’s artwork for this collection. This card contains a serial code to access to the Director’s cut version of Pseudo-concert streaming ‘sukekiyo TOUR2023 ‘Dakara Sono Uchi’ -Haishin no Ma-, which was streamed on sukekiyo’s Official YouTube Channel on September 24, 2023. When we tuned in to watch this livestream last September, we experienced a more intimate view of the band’s performances, including “fancam” style angles from the audience.
