We have had some great Spider-Man movies over the years, from the Tobey Maguire movies, to Andrew Garfield, to our current Marvel Peter Parker, Tom Holland, we have seen some solid storytelling.

The animated Spider-Verse movies following Miles Morales have also been fantastic. But the expanded Spider-Man universe films at Sony have left something to be desired.

The highest rated in the category have been the Venom movies, but while they’re fun, they’re not the top-notch film experience we wish we had.

The last couple of movies, Morbius and Madame Web, have gone down as some of the worst superhero movies of all time! Kraven the Hunter and Venom: The Last Dance are both coming up, and hopefully they’re an improvement, but either way, one other project is tentatively in the works, if the rumors are true.

According to scooper @MyTimeToShineH (via ComicBook), a Spider-Gwen live-action movie is in the early stages of development at the studio. We don’t have any more than that to go on, but if Spider-Man is going to remain off-limits because he’s in the MCU, she’s arguably the best possible choice of character to focus on.

It could be argued that live-action Miles Morales should be a bigger priority, but it’s widely been reported that he’s going to appear in Spider-Man 4, setting the stage for the MCU to focus on two Spider-Men in this next trilogy.

Spider-Gwen first appeared in Edge of Spider-Verse #2 in 2014. Created by writer Jason Latour and artist Robbi Rodriguez, this Gwen Stacy hails from an alternate universe where Gwen Stacy was bitten by a radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker.

In her reality, Peter Parker becomes the Lizard after injecting himself with a serum, and Gwen is forced to confront and defeat him as Spider-Woman. This tragic event weighs heavily on Gwen’s conscience, shaping her motivations and actions as a superhero.

What do you think of this project? We will let you know more as it develops.
